Patent Agent

Overview A law firm seeks a skilled and motivated Patent Agent to join its intellectual property team. This role involves working closely with seasoned attorneys to assist clients in protecting their innovative technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent writing skills, and a genuine interest in learning about diverse technological advancements. Duties Collaborate with attorneys to prepare and file patent applications. Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of technical and legal issues related to patentability. Draft patent applications and responses to office actions. Engage with clients to understand technical details and innovations in engineering, computer science, or advanced sciences. Support senior attorneys in managing patent portfolios and ensuring compliance with patent laws. Stay updated on developments in patent law and relevant technological fields. Requirements Strong writing and analytical skills. Interest in learning new and emerging areas of technology. Prior experience in engineering or computer science is advantageous. Experience in the software development lifecycle as a developer, technical writer, or analyst is a plus. Education Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related advanced science field. Certifications Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is preferred or a willingness to pursue certification. Skills Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
