Driehaus Foundation and CAR’s “Good Neighbor” award. Role Description The Bookkeeper role is a full-time, on-site position based in Chicago, IL. This role is responsible for accurately recording and maintaining financial transactions, including posting journal entries, reconciling bank and account statements, and updating ledgers for multiple properties. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and reviewing financial reports, assisting in the production of monthly and annual financial statements, and supporting accounts payable and receivable activities. The Bookkeeper will work closely with property management and accounting team members to ensure data integrity, timely reporting, and compliance with internal controls. The role also involves using accounting software to manage financial records, respond to inquiries, and provide documentation for audits and internal reviews. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong bookkeeping skills, including experience with recording daily transactions, maintaining ledgers, and supporting month-end close activities. Candidates should possess skills in preparing, reviewing, and interpreting financial statements to support internal reporting and decision-making. Candidates should possess proficiency with accounting software and related financial systems used for property and real estate management. Candidates should possess knowledge of finance and accounting principles, including creating and posting journal entries in accordance with standard practices. Relevant qualifications include prior experience in real estate or property management accounting, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple accounts simultaneously. Additional beneficial qualifications include a high level of numerical accuracy, effective communication skills, familiarity with spreadsheets and office productivity tools, and the ability to work collaboratively in an on-site team environment.
