Senior Litigation Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking a Senior Litigation Associate Attorney with 5+ years of defense-side complex litigation experience to join a rapidly growing labor and employment practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced litigator to manage sophisticated matters independently while developing client relationships and growing a long-term practice.

Position Overview

The ideal candidate will have significant experience handling complex litigation from inception through resolution, with strong case management, advocacy, and client-service skills. While employment litigation experience is preferred, experienced defense-side litigators from other complex litigation practices with an interest in developing an employment law practice will also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex litigation matters independently from inception through resolution.

• Draft and respond to pleadings.

• Manage written and electronic discovery, including e-discovery strategy.

• Draft and argue dispositive and non-dispositive motions.

• Take and defend depositions.

• Lead or substantially participate in mediations and trials.

• Develop litigation strategy and manage case deadlines and workflows.

• Maintain and develop strong client relationships.

• Mentor junior attorneys and collaborate with litigation teams.

• Provide practical legal advice and strategic guidance to clients.

• Contribute to business development and long-term practice growth.

• Manage multiple sophisticated matters in a fast-paced environment.

• Leverage modern legal technology and tools to enhance efficiency and client service.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of defense-side complex litigation experience.

• Significant experience managing sophisticated litigation matters independently.

• Strong experience with pleadings, discovery, motion practice, and depositions.

• Trial and/or mediation experience.

• Employment litigation experience preferred.

• Strong writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.

• Excellent academic credentials.

• Demonstrated leadership, initiative, sound judgment, and adaptability.

• Strong commitment to client service and teamwork.

• Interest in business development and building a long-term practice.

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.

• Admission to both the New Jersey and New York Bars required.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $195,000–$215,000+ annually , depending on experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and other job-related factors.
