Responsibilities of a COTA:

Occupational Therapist Assistant help Occupational Therapists in providing care to patients. Under the direction and supervision of a Occupational Therapist, they provide exercise instructions, therapeutic methods like electrical stimulation, mechanical traction, ultrasound and gait and balance training. Occupational Therapist Assistants record the patient's progress and responses to treatment and report the outcome of each treatment to the Occupational Therapist.

 

Qualifications of a COTA:

* Associate Degree from an Accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant Program

* Licensed in the State of New York/New Jersey

* CPR/BLS certification

* 1 year work experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility
