Instrument OperatorThe Instrument Operator operates and maintains all survey equipment, works under the direction of the Party Chief, collects and downloads survey data, directs loading and storage of equipment and maintains safety standards. The role of the Instrument man is to assist the Party Chief as directed.Responsibilities:Assist the Party Chief as directedUnderstand procedures and operation of all surveying equipment, i.e. Static GPS, RTK, GPS, conventional total station, data collectors, levels, pipeline locator and magnetometerEnsure that all equipment is in proper working orderProvide daily maintenance and security of equipmentReport all damaged and defective equipment to appropriate SupervisorSupervise and assist with loading of equipment, boats, off-road vehiclesMentor/train rod person (new team members) on proper survey procedures and operation of equipmentAssist Party Chief as needed with daily operations including review of project related drawingsComplete daily status forms prior to departure from office MS Planner or DFRProper storage of equipmentPreparation of field notes; understand how to write and read field notes and mapsAssume responsibilities of party chief in his absenceQualifications & Skills:Verbal and written communication skills4+ years of Survey ExperienceAttention to detailLand navigation and map reading competencyWilling to work alone and/or part of a small teamPhysical fitness and dexterity including the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds, cross fences when gates are unavailable, and stand or walk long periods - working outdoors in varying weather condition in varying terrainPreferred Qualifications (Not Required):AutoCAD experience in drafting or use of Carlson pluginCurrent FAA Part 107 certificationExperience with Leica robotic total station and GNSSGessner Engineering is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of any legally protected status or characteristic.
