Manual Lathe Machinist Lathe Class I We are seeking an experienced Manual Lathe Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. This role is ideal for a skilled machinist with strong job shop experience who can independently set up and operate engine lathes while producing high-quality precision components. Responsibilities Read and interpret detailed blueprints and work instructions Run manual lathe machine Machine a wide variety of castings, bar stock, and fabricated parts Determine machining methods, tooling requirements, feeds, and speeds Perform complete machine setups, including alignment of irregular-shaped parts Select tooling and operation sequences based on materials and production requirements Use precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and quality Grind tool bits and make necessary tooling adjustments Maintain equipment by keeping machines clean and monitoring fluid levels Keep tooling organized and work area clean and safe Assist with training and mentoring new operators as needed Perform additional duties assigned by supervisor Qualifications Minimum 5 years of manual engine lathe operating experience in a job shop environment High school diploma or GED required Ability to read blueprints and perform complex setups independently Experience using precision measuring instruments Must provide own hand tools required for the position Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment involving bending, stooping, twisting, and standing for extended periods Ability to pass a preemployment screening Why Join Us?
