Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, internal equity, geographic location, and other job‑related factors. Schedule Monday through Friday from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm (Hours subject to change depending on business needs) Employment Logistics The Control Systems Engineer supports the reliability, functionality, and uptime of OnTrac’s automated parcel handling systems by developing, maintaining, and optimizing PLC and WCS (Warehouse Control System) programs. This role provides real‑time troubleshooting, supports controls design standards, and implements improvements that enhance throughput, fault recovery, and automation stability. It works closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, and OEM partners to help maintain a resilient, standardized, and scalable controls environment across the network. At least 4 years of experience in automation and controls for facilities, conveyor systems, automated material handling, or sortation equipment. Proficiency with PLCs (Allen‑Bradley/Rockwell), HMIs, SCADA systems, and safety interlocks. Ability to travel up to 50% Responsibilities Keep automation running at peak reliability: Support, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC and WCS systems for conveyor lines, sortation equipment, dimensioners, and other automated systems to improve uptime and stability. Build and maintain robust PLC logic: Develop and maintain PLC programs (primarily Allen‑Bradley/Rockwell) that ensure reliable operation and strong fault recovery behavior. Implement improvements with engineering and OEM partners: Collaborate on controls revisions and software updates that improve throughput, recovery performance, and system consistency. Support commissioning and integration: Assist with commissioning, controls validation, and integration testing for new automation deployments and retrofits. Keep controls documentation accurate and current: Maintain IO lists, electrical schematics, network diagrams, and control panel layouts to support standardized operation and troubleshooting. Enable frontline success and safe operation: Work with site technicians to resolve complex faults, train on basic troubleshooting, and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards (e‑stops, lockout/tagout logic, interlocks). Success Qualities You stay calm and methodical during downtime or fault situations and work problems through to a stable resolution. You are detail‑oriented in code structure, documentation, and system updates, keeping changes disciplined and traceable. You build trust with local maintenance teams through hands‑on support, clear coaching, and practical troubleshooting guidance. You collaborate effectively across Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, and OEM partners to drive consistent controls improvements. You uphold safety and operational standards in controls design and troubleshooting, ensuring interlocks and emergency functions work as intended. The salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at OnTrac, and the actual base hourly rate offered may vary depending on several factors including, but not limited to: geographic location, candidate experience and qualifications, job‑related skills and competencies, market alignment, and financial considerations.
