Medical Surgical Unit - Travel Registered Nurse

Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM

Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months worked in the last 3 years.

• Travel experience is preferred.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

• Trauma Level 1 experience is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Illinois license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• 12 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare.

Additional Details:

References: At least one reference must be from the same unit/specialty as the job you’re applying to.

Required Skills/Experience: Central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes. Candidates without travel experience will be considered if they have level I trauma center experience and Epic experience.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Travel experience on a MedSurg floor preferred.

Special Requests: Block scheduling allowed.

Unit Details: Patient ratios: 1:4-5 from 07-2300 and 1:5-6 from 23-0730. Acute care general med population includes cellulitis, sepsis, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, syncope, anemia, uncontrolled diabetes, acute respiratory failure, liver failure, kidney failure, behavioral health, and addictions. Common drips include Heparin and Lasix; RNs are not required to titrate drips. Free charge RN on each floor. Uses BiPAP/CPAP for sleep apnea, inhalers, and suctioning. House-wide telemetry is monitored remotely; RNs can view strips on pack or computer; Phillips monitors.

Shift & Scheduling: Every other weekend – Fri/Sat for nights. Holiday requirement varies. No call.

Floating Requirements: Rotation to other acute care general med areas, including nephrology, neuro, ortho, and oncology.

14 days maximum time off

1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 12 months

1 reference required from within the last 3 years

Driver’s license required for submission
