About the Position

Job Title: Emergency Room (ER) Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: ER Float Pool Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12H Evening, Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of emergency department experience License: Current RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC Must-Have: 2 years of emergency department experience required. Traveler cannot miss more than 3 shifts in a 13-week contract. Description: This position is for a float nurse in an emergency room setting. Nurses will be expected to float within a designated zone covering a 60-mile radius. Clinicians must ensure they are in state for the week of orientation. Scheduling is done 4 to 6 weeks in advance and follows one of two formats. Option A involves scheduling at a single facility for the week with potential floating within that facility. Option B involves Just-In-Time (JIT) scheduling where the facility is assigned 1 to 2 hours before the shift starts. Nurses are responsible for obtaining housing that accommodates the floating requirement. Nurses will work with various patient conditions such as abdominal pain, diabetes, pneumonia, and trauma. The nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:4-5 based on acuity. All nurses are required to perform point-of-care lab testing. Shifts are typically 12 hours. Weekend and holiday requirements are every other. There is no call or standby requirement. Nurses will work collaboratively with emergency department team members.
