Organization NICU Cohort 12 Job Summary Registered Nurse – NICU Complex Infant Lung and Airway Disease Unit (Interview Day – June 16, 2026, 7 AM‑7 PM). This role provides highly skilled, family‑centered care to pre‑term infants requiring chronic airway and respiratory support. About the Role Care for infants with complex diagnoses including bronchopulmonary dysplasia, pulmonary hypertension, and congenital airway malformations. Manage advanced respiratory support and technology‑dependent patients. Safely administer and monitor multiple IV drips. Deliver compassionate, family‑centered care and education. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team. About Our NICU Founded in 1961 by Mildred Stahlman, MD, Vanderbilt’s NICU is a pioneering program dedicated exclusively to pre‑term infant care, organized into specialized pods for cohorting patient diagnoses. Position Details Shift: Nights (7 PM – 7 AM) Schedule: 36 hours per week Setting: High‑acuity chronic complex care unit Preferred Qualifications NICU experience preferred; candidates without NICU experience are encouraged – extensive training provided. Strong critical‑thinking and teamwork skills. Passion for delivering family‑centered care. Key Responsibilities Collaborate in establishing the plan of care, coordinate and implement care delivery while anticipating patient needs. Analyze comprehensive information pertinent to patient care to determine nursing diagnoses. Continuously evaluate patient progress toward goals using the nursing process and apply appropriate interventions. Employ strategies to promote health and a safe environment. Responsibilities listed are general and additional duties may be assigned. Technical Capabilities Care Planning – demonstrate ability to anticipate resources, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changes. Nursing Patient Education – provide patient education in moderate‑difficulty practical applications. Nursing Patient Assessment & Evaluation – assess and evaluate patients, conduct interviews, physical examinations, and recognize problems. Evidence‑Based Practice – search for evidence to answer clinical questions; work under direction to accomplish assignments. Position Qualifications Certifications: Licensure – Registered Nurse (LIC‑RN). Work Experience: Relevant work experience required. Experience Level: Minimum 1 year. Education: Graduate of an approved discipline‑specific program.
