Location: Miami, FL (Brickell) — on-site Employment Type: Full-Time Reports to: Chief Operating Officer C Compensation: $50,000 – $200,000 base, plus discretionary bonus. The range spans several levels of seniority; we are open to candidates from senior fund accountant through experienced Controller and will calibrate title and compensation to the person we hire. About Hurricane Capital: Hurricane Capital is a multi-manager hedge fund platform built to support entrepreneurial investment teams with institutional infrastructure. We provide portfolio managers with the operating, financing, risk, and control functions of an established firm so they can focus on investing. Position Overview: We are hiring a Controller to own the firm's accounting, financial reporting, and internal control processes across both the management company and the fund complex. You will work directly with senior leadership and manage the relationships with our fund administrator, auditors, tax advisors, and other service providers. The work is a mix of hands-on execution and build-out: closing the books accurately every month, and at the same time designing the processes that let us onboard the next manager and launch the next fund without re-inventing anything. What you'll own: Accounting and financial control Day-to-day accounting operations: general ledger, AP, expense management, accruals, reconciliations, and cash Monthly, quarterly, and annual close Internal controls, accounting policies, and documented procedures Budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting Fund accounting and reporting Review of administrator deliverables: NAV calculations, capital account statements, investor allocations, and financial statements Fund-level expenses, management fees, and incentive allocations Investor reporting and capital activity Preparation and review of annual audited financials Audit, tax, and regulatory Primary point of contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and the administrator Annual audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting support Documentation supporting accounting judgments and reconciliations Platform build-out New fund launches, manager onboarding, and new managed account structures System implementations and workflow automation Scalable controls that hold as the platform adds strategies and entities What we're looking for: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 5+ years of relevant experience across hedge funds, alternative asset management, fund administration, or public accounting (alternatives-focused) Working knowledge of GAAP, fund financial statement preparation, capital accounts, and investment products across asset classes Direct experience managing or reviewing the work of a third-party fund administrator Strong Excel and comfort learning new accounting and reporting systems Sound judgment, clear written communication, and the ability to explain a number to someone who isn't an accountant Comfort operating without a large team behind you, in a firm where processes are still being built Preferred: CPA Experience with SS&C fund administration (GlobeOp / Advent platforms), either as an administrator or on the client side Prior title of Controller, Assistant Controller, Fund Controller, or Fund Accounting Manager within alternatives Multi-manager platform, managed account, or master-feeder experience Management company accounting in addition to fund accounting Track record of improving a close process, implementing a system, or standing up controls from scratch Why this role?
