Remote Part-Time Bookkeeper

Vision Education & Media dba Robofun provides exciting, hands-on after-school programs using emerging technologies for PK–12th grade youth. We ignite kids' passion to explore, solve problems, and invent, build, code, and troubleshoot — because learning should be fun! We're seeking a highly capable, entrepreneurial Part-Time Bookkeeper. This is a primarily remote, 1099 position averaging 12 hours per week, with biweekly in-person meetings at our Manhattan office. The rate is $45.00–$75.00/hour, commensurate with experience, and offers a unique opportunity to directly influence the company's growth strategy. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of small-company bookkeeping experience, strong organizational skills, and clear, direct communication. This role suits someone equally comfortable working independently or with colleagues and clients. Reporting directly to the President/CEO, the Bookkeeper proactively flags issues and solutions before being asked, checks in with the CEO and Assistant Director of Operations to report progress rather than seek instruction, and retains context from prior conversations so recurring questions aren't re-asked. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Accounts Receivable & Reconciliation Manage Accounts Receivable, including timely and accurate invoice coding and posting, and consistent client follow-up for prompt payment Execute journal entries and perform comprehensive bank reconciliations Planning & Reporting Maintain and update 13-week cash flow projections, yearly revenue trackers, historic year-over-year revenue tracking, and annual budgets Support end-of-year tax preparation Track and report progress on designated finance initiatives and projects Proactively identify discrepancies, cash flow risks, or process inefficiencies and bring recommended solutions — not just problems — to the CEO Compliance & Audits Ensure compliance with insurance and accounting regulations and audits and complete related filings QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; advanced degree a plus Demonstrated track record of anticipating needs and acting without waiting for direction — please provide a specific example in your cover letter 3–5 years of bookkeeping experience, ideally in a small company or entrepreneurial setting AIPB certification a plus High proficiency in QuickBooks, MS Office Suite, and Airtable — maintaining organized records precisely so that information doesn't need to be re-requested Exceptional organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail Strong problem-solving ability and comfort managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong working memory for financial details and client/vendor history — comfortable working from institutional knowledge rather than needing information re-supplied Maturity, discernment, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality Ability to balance weekly operational tasks with active participation in strategic discussions WHY ROBOFUN Join a mission-driven, women-owned education company where your financial expertise directly shapes the growth of hands-on STEAM programming for thousands of NYC students.
