Job Title: CNC Machine Operator
$25-$35 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 5:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Overtime: Available as needed

Position Summary
The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for the safe, precise operation of HAAS CNC lathes and mills to produce custom metal components according to engineering drawings and shop specifications. This role supports the fabrication of one-of-a-kind architectural metalwork and requires strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, and adaptability in a custom job-shop environment.

Key Responsibilities
CNC Operations
Set up and operate HAAS CNC lathes and mills to produce parts to print
Load, run, and adjust CNC programs, including making tool offsets and minor edits
Select and install tooling, fixtures, and work-holding setups; verify alignment before production
Perform in-process inspections using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges)
Complete setup documentation and first-article inspection records

Manual Machining
Operate manual mills and lathes for prototypes, one-off parts, and specialty work
Perform machining operations including turning, facing, boring, threading, drilling, tapping, and milling
Evaluate when manual machining is more efficient than CNC for short-run jobs

Quality & Safety
Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and material specifications
Maintain quality documentation and report non-conformances promptly
Maintain clean and organized work area; report maintenance issues
Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements

Collaboration
Work closely with shop leadership and fabrication teams to coordinate workflow
Communicate material needs, tooling gaps, and drawing discrepancies proactively
Support continuous improvement efforts (efficiency, scrap reduction, process consistency)

Qualifications
Required
3+ years of CNC machining experience (HAAS controls strongly preferred)
Ability to independently set up and operate CNC lathes and mills
Proficient in precision measurement and inspection
Experience making program edits and tool offset adjustments at the machine
Manual machining experience (mills and lathes)
Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
High attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship

Preferred
Experience machining non-ferrous metals (aluminum, brass, bronze)
Familiarity with Fusion 360 or other CAM software
Background in custom fabrication or job-shop environments
Technical or vocational training in machining/manufacturing

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Comfortable working around machinery, metal materials, and cutting fluids
Required use of PPE including eye and hearing protection
