Customs Brokerage Specialist

Responsibilities Provide customers with the highest quality service by ensuring consistent customer service and resolution, timely release and/or inbound or outbound movement of freight/cargo. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers' front line personnel in operating divisions and subsidiaries. Prepare, analyze, and submit documentation to U.S. Customs, agents, and clients to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Anticipate, identify, and resolve problems that could delay the release or movement of freight. Maintain relationships with brokers, T & B, and other service providers to ensure service requirements are met. Resolve banking, letter of credit, and payment term issues; resolve billing issues and ensure accurate invoicing and vendor payments. Complete accurate data input or corrections into computer files and obtain payment on delinquent accounts or complete accounting adjustment forms for review. For transportation customer service reps: develop rates and provide quotes for freight movement, research and negotiate carrier rates, resolve billing issues, and coordinate post‑entry activity on customer's behalf. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Proficient computer skills (MS Office, Outlook). Strong customer service, organizational, and communication (written and oral) skills. Knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and other federal regulations relevant to the specific area of expertise (CHB, air transport, ocean transport, surface transport) as applicable. Experience with HTS classification and the harmonized tariff system. Experience with relevant regulations (e.g., export licensing, tariff classifications, shipping act, hazardous materials, etc.). Basic math skills for conversions and currency evaluations. 12 months of brokerage or transportation experience and/or customer service experience. One and a half years of work/field experience preferred. Preferred Qualifications One and a half years of work/field experience. Experience with carrier rate research and negotiation. Knowledge of banking and letter of credit processes. Familiarity with dangerous goods shipping regulations. Pay Pay range: 16.60 – 26.34 USD per hour. Pay Transparency: This compensation range is an estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. Actual starting pay will be determined by experience, market level, and location. Eligible employees may be entitled to additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential.
