Our programs include individualized music therapy sessions, group programs, community-based services, and Regional Center-funded services. We are a mission-driven organization committed to clinical excellence, accountability, compassionate care, professional development, and consistent service delivery. As our clinical department continues to grow, we are seeking a Clinical Supervisor who can provide structure, leadership, accountability, and support to our music therapy team. Position Summary The Clinical Supervisor is the senior clinical leader of LA Musica Therapy’s music therapy department. This role is responsible for the quality, consistency, accountability, and professional standards of direct service delivery across the clinical team. The Clinical Supervisor provides structured supervision to Music Therapists, supports clinical development, reviews documentation quality, reinforces professional standards, manages performance concerns in coordination with leadership, and helps ensure that services are delivered in a manner consistent with LA Musica Therapy’s clinical, ethical, compliance, and organizational expectations. This is a leadership role, not solely a senior clinician role. The ideal candidate must be comfortable balancing therapist support with organizational accountability. This includes providing direct feedback, addressing documentation concerns, supporting staff through difficult clinical situations, and holding therapists accountable to professional standards. The Clinical Supervisor will maintain a reduced direct service caseload while also carrying supervisory, administrative, documentation review, and leadership responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Clinical Supervision, Quality, and Accountability Provide structured, regular supervision to Music Therapists and other clinical staff as assigned. Conduct session observations, either live or recorded, and provide clear, actionable, documented feedback. Establish, reinforce, and uphold clinical delivery standards for session structure, goal alignment, therapeutic approach, and professional conduct. Serve as a clinical escalation point for complex cases, ethical concerns, parent/caregiver concerns, and difficult client situations. Support therapists clinically while also ensuring that client care, documentation, compliance, and organizational needs are met. Therapist Professionalism, Attendance, and Punctuality Monitor therapist punctuality, arrival times, attendance patterns, and schedule adherence across assigned service sites. Address patterns of lateness, missed sessions, documentation delays, or unreliability promptly and professionally. Provide direct coaching and documented feedback when therapists do not meet expected standards. Escalate repeated or serious concerns to the Managing Director/ CEO with supporting documentation. Help create a clinical culture where staff feel supported while also being held accountable to professional expectations. Documentation Quality, Compliance, and Timeliness Reinforce documentation standards across the clinical team, including session notes, assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, and related clinical documentation. Conduct routine documentation reviews and identify patterns affecting billing accuracy, authorization continuity, Regional Center requirements, or service delivery. Ensure documentation is completed within required deadlines and meets LA Musica Therapy’s quality standards. Provide corrective feedback and training when documentation is late, incomplete, inaccurate, or clinically insufficient. Partner with administrative staff to resolve documentation issues that affect authorizations, POS matters, billing, or client service continuity. Performance Management and Corrective Action Address underperformance directly, professionally, and in a timely manner. Provide documented coaching and structured feedback when therapists are not meeting expectations. Develop and implement Performance Improvement Plans in coordination with the Managing Director when appropriate. Participate in progressive discipline processes as needed, including documentation, follow-up, and recommendations to leadership. Demonstrate comfort with difficult conversations, including feedback related to punctuality, documentation, conduct, clinical quality, and reliability. Clinical Workflow and Department Standards Develop, refine, and maintain clinical templates, documentation tools, supervision forms, and workflow resources. Collaborate with leadership on EHR, scheduling, documentation, and clinical workflow improvements. Recommend process improvements that increase consistency, efficiency, compliance, and quality without compromising clinical care. Help ensure that clinical systems are scalable as the organization grows. Caseload Oversight and Scheduling Collaboration Monitor caseload distribution across the team to support clinical appropriateness, therapist sustainability, and organizational capacity. Maintain a reduced direct service caseload while modeling the clinical and documentation standard expected of the department. Collaborate with administrative staff regarding scheduling coordination, therapist capacity, coverage needs, and operational concerns. Provide clinical input on staffing needs, schedule structure, caseload complexity, and therapist readiness. Leadership Coverage and Incident Support Provide leadership presence during active clinical hours, including evenings and Saturdays as required by department operations. Serve as an onsite or available escalation point when therapists need support with clients, families, caregiver concerns, safety issues, or clinical incidents. Support therapists through difficult situations while ensuring appropriate follow-up, documentation, and communication. Respond calmly and professionally to urgent or sensitive clinical matters. Collaboration with Program Development and Leadership Work closely with leadership and program development staff on new and existing group programs, partner-site services, and clinical program expansion. Review proposed programs for clinical feasibility, staffing model, therapeutic structure, and documentation needs. Provide clinical readiness input before program launches. Participate in program evaluations and recommend clinical adjustments when needed. Communicate staffing capacity, clinical constraints, and therapist readiness to leadership proactively. Training, Onboarding, and Staff Development Support onboarding of new clinical hires, including orientation to documentation expectations, clinical standards, and LA Musica Therapy procedures. Identify training gaps and recommend targeted professional development. Lead or support clinical trainings, team meetings, and professional development activities. Model strong professional judgment, documentation quality, punctuality, and mission-driven service. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music Therapy. Active MT-BC certification in good standing. Minimum 4 years of clinical music therapy experience. Experience working with children, individuals with developmental disabilities, IDD populations, autism, behavioral needs, Regional Center populations, or related clinical populations. This person should be able to support therapists while also upholding organizational standards, documentation requirements, client needs, and Regional Center expectations. A strong candidate will be able to Give clear feedback without avoiding difficult conversations. Hold therapists accountable for documentation, punctuality, and professionalism. Remain calm during incidents or family/client concerns. Balance therapist advocacy with organizational responsibility.
