Job Title: Semi Trailer Mechanic (Service Technician)

Location: Bakersfield, CA
Employment Type: Full-Time/Temp-to-Hire
Pay Range: Starting at $22.00+ (DOE)

Position Overview

Legacy Staffing is seeking a skilled and dependable Semi Trailer Mechanic (Service Technician) on behalf of an industrial services client. This role is responsible for repairing, maintaining, and servicing semi-trailers to ensure safe and efficient operation. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical knowledge, hands-on experience with heavy-duty equipment, and the ability to diagnose and resolve issues across multiple trailer systems.

Key Responsibilities

Repair and replace trailer components, including:
- Brake systems (air brakes, ABS)
- Suspension systems
- Axles and wheel bearings
- Lighting and wiring systems
- Landing gear and coupling systems
Perform structural repairs on trailer frames and panels, including welding and fabrication
Conduct preventative maintenance and routine inspections
Use diagnostic tools to identify mechanical and electrical issues
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred
Experience working with semi-trailers or heavy-duty equipment
Knowledge of air brake systems and trailer components
Welding and fabrication skills preferred
Ability to operate diagnostic tools and repair equipment

Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
Attention to detail and commitment to safety
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong time management and problem-solving skills
Physical ability to lift heavy components and work in various conditions

Work Environment

Work performed in both shop and outdoor environments
Exposure to weather conditions, noise, and heavy equipment
Occasional overtime may be required
