Pool Bartender

The following describes the Pool Bartender role and its responsibilities, qualifications, and benefits. Responsibilities Greet guests pleasantly as they approach the bar; promote house drinks and use up-selling skills to maximize revenues. Prepare beverages requested by customers and adhere to established pouring standards and drink recipes to ensure a consistent product and control costs. Coordinate food service with restaurant(s) for bar/lounge guests when applicable. Set up the bar with liquor, mixers, ice, garnishes, glassware, and supplies; perform pre- and post-shift side-work (ice, garnishes, replenishing snacks, etc.). Requisition supplies; inventory unused liquor and beverages; ensure liquor is secured before, during, and after shift. Manage the bartender’s bank, receive cash and credit payments, provide accurate change, and balance the cash drawer at shift end. Inspect the bar daily for cleanliness and proper operation of equipment; sweep and mop the bar floor after shifts; wipe counters, equipment, stools, chairs, tables, and other areas as required. Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication with other departments; perform other duties as assigned. Monitor guest behavior and alcohol consumption to determine when service should cease; report incidents to management and check identification when needed. Escalate service or safety issues to management and apply service recovery guidelines to ensure guest satisfaction. Qualifications and Skills Basic reading, writing, and math skills; knowledge of liquor brands, beer, wine, champagne, non-alcoholic beverages, designated glassware, preparation methods, and garnishes. Formal bartending training preferred; must meet state legal age requirements; fluency in English. Physical ability to handle items up to 50 pounds; ability to move about the bar, lounge, and kitchen; bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting. Strong communication skills for interaction with guests, wait staff, cooks, and supervisor. Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local/state regulations. Reading and writing abilities for taking orders and completing paperwork; basic math skills for handling cash and credit. May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays. Additional Information Pay Rate: $16.00/hr. plus tips; base pay may vary by knowledge, skills, and experience.
