Our commitment to patient care also includes investing in our employees through continuing education and training.Position SummaryThe Registered Nurse (RN) – Circulator is responsible for coordinating and managing patient care in the operating room, ensuring a safe, efficient, and sterile surgical environment. This role serves as the patient's advocate throughout the perioperative process, monitoring safety, documentation, and communication between surgical team members to ensure optimal outcomes.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in the daily function and organization of the operating room in accordance with facility policies and regulatory guidelines.Provide direct and indirect patient care before, during, and after ophthalmic procedures.Monitor patient vital signs, administer medications safely, and respond to any intraoperative or postoperative complications.Oversee patient positioning, site preparation, and adherence to procedural safety protocols.Ensure that patients' rights, dignity, privacy, and comfort are always maintained.Perform accounting procedures to prevent retained surgical items and ensure all instruments and supplies are accounted for.Confirm correct surgical site, side, and level in collaboration with the surgical team.Manage patient specimens according to facility guidelines.Implement infection control measures to prevent surgical site infections.Communicate patient status updates to appropriate parties throughout the continuum of care.Assist in overseeing patient care activities and ensuring the OR team operates efficiently.Foster a collaborative work environment by using problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects to enhance patient outcomes.Act as a patient advocate, ensuring ethical, culturally competent, and age-appropriate care.Accurately document all aspects of nursing care, including preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative observations.Maintain all required competencies, certifications, and continuing education.Participate in the performance appraisal process and ongoing professional development.Complete all required compliance training, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory standards.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesPatient Experience—Understanding and anticipating the patient's needs, actively striving to exceed our patient's expectations, and providing ongoing education and communication.Proactive—Keep others informed. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.Have close visual acuity to perform an activity, including viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, interpretation, etc.Must possess the physical, mental, and cognitive skills to complete essential tasks, including learning, remembering, focusing, categorizing, and integrating information for comprehension, problem-solving, and timely decision-making.Must be able to be stationary for prolonged periods.Cognitive RequirementExecute tasks independently.Learn and memorize tasks.Maintains concentration/focus on tasks.Perform tasks in a demanding environment requiring multi-tasking and prioritizing work.Must be comfortable working and interacting with large groups of people daily.
