Position Summary

The IHBT Mental Health Therapist works under the administrative and clinical supervision of the Clinical Director and is responsible for providing intensive, community-based mental health services to children, adolescents, and families participating in the IHBT program. Responsibilities include completing diagnostic assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and providing individual, family, and therapeutic behavioral services (TBS) to support stabilization, emotional wellness, and improved family functioning.

Services are delivered primarily in the home and community settings, with additional services provided in schools, agency offices, and/or via telehealth as clinically appropriate. The IHBT Therapist maintains a small caseload and provides intensive services for approximately 3 to 6 months, depending on the needs of the family and treatment goals.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide intensive home- and community-based mental health services to children, adolescents, and families in accordance with the IHBT model and agency standards.
• Complete comprehensive diagnostic assessments, mental health evaluations, and ongoing treatment planning for assigned clients and families.
• Develop, implement, and maintain individualized, strengths-based, measurable treatment plans that address identified client and family needs.
• Provide individual, family, and therapeutic behavioral services (TBS) interventions utilizing evidence-based and trauma-informed practices.
• Provide CPST services including care coordination, skill-building, advocacy, and linkage to community resources to support client stabilization and treatment goals.
• Deliver crisis intervention, stabilization, coaching, and support services to clients and families as needed.
• Develop and maintain therapeutic, professional, and culturally responsive relationships with clients, caregivers, and family systems.
• Identify barriers within family systems and implement appropriate interventions to improve communication, coping skills, emotional regulation, interpersonal relationships, and overall family functioning.
• Coordinate care and collaborate with schools, child welfare agencies, referral sources, medical providers, and other community partners to support treatment goals and continuity of care.
• Serve as an advocate for clients and families by assisting with access to community resources, referrals, and supportive services.
• Participate in treatment team meetings, case consultations, supervision, and ongoing clinical trainings as required.
• Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation including assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, crisis plans, discharge summaries, and other required records in accordance with agency, Medicaid, and state guidelines.
• Collaborate with clients and families to develop safety and crisis management plans and provide crisis response support when appropriate.
• Maintain flexibility in scheduling to accommodate client and family needs, including evening appointments and community-based sessions.
• Maintain productivity expectations and manage a small intensive caseload while providing high-quality clinical care.
• Obtain and maintain all required licenses, certifications, trainings, and supervisory documentation in accordance with agency and state requirements.
• Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, positivity, flexibility, and a commitment to a collaborative, team-based work environment.
• Represent GuidingPoint Behavioral Health in a professional and positive manner with clients, families, referral sources, and community partners.
• Ensure compliance with Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM), licensing board standards, CARF, and agency policies
• Participate in ongoing training, supervision, and professional development

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy
• Active Ohio licensure required:  LSW, LPC, or LMFT
• LISW or LPCC preferred
• Training or experience in evidence-based and trauma-informed treatment modalities, including TF-CBT, preferred
• Experience working with children, adolescents, and/or families preferred
• Strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary team
• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and documentation standards preferred
• Valid Ohio driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance required

• Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work nontraditional hours, including evenings and community-based appointments as needed.
