Construction Adjunct Instructor (TEMPORARY)

Position Title Construction Adjunct Instructor (Temporary) Summary We are seeking a part‑time Construction instructor to teach lecture and lab courses at the Pleasant Hill campus for the fall 2026 term and future semesters. Candidates will present courses in associate‑degree programs such as Construction Management, Building Inspection, Supervision, and Pre‑Apprenticeship. Course content covers construction processes, materials, occupational safety, estimating, legal aspects, and hands‑on applications. Responsibilities Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines, and class schedules. Create and maintain an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas, and promotes critical thinking. Evaluate the progress of students, record grades, and maintain educational record accuracy. Meet with students outside of class as needed. Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics. Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas. Accurately complete all scholarly record documentation and administrative duties. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of a Master’s degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent, OR a bachelor’s degree with at least two years of professional construction experience, OR an associate degree with at least six years of professional construction experience. Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a demonstrated interest in supporting a diverse student population. Prior teaching experience preferred but not required; applicants with a strong teaching aptitude and interest are encouraged to apply. Desirable Qualifications Experience supporting diverse students from varied racial, ethnic, academic, socio‑economic, and ability backgrounds. Recent industry experience in construction‑related fields such as project management, estimating, general contracting, or a skilled trade, and the ability to connect real‑world practice to classroom instruction. Possession of a relevant professional license or certification (e.g., General Contractor’s License, ICC, LEED). Benefits Eligible employees receive health, vision, dental, and life insurance.
