Join us and take your place in space.The Engineering Applications Department (EAD) is seeking a UI/UX Designer & Developer to create world-class user experience for complex space systems. We develop cutting-edge visualization tools from sophisticated web and desktop applications to immersive experiences, that transform complex engineering data into intuitive interfaces for critical decision-making in civil, commercial, and national security space programs.ISCD staff leverage cutting-edge information system technologies, including elastic compute clouds, containerization, microservices, real-time operating systems, and advanced visualization frameworks, combined with expertise in software architecture, AI, and cybersecurity to deliver high-performance systems to our Intelligence Community, DoD, and civilian customers.You will work closely with product experience designers and other engineers to translate customer needs into innovative design solutions.Work Model:This is a full-time position based in Chantilly, VA, which requires 100% onsite work.What You'll Be DoingBuild responsive, accessible, high-performance front-end interfaces with exceptional attention to detailDevelop and implement intuitive user experiences for advanced visualization products to enhance data analysis and decision-making processesPartner with developers, engineers, scientists, and stakeholders to align vision and deliver cohesive solutionsFoster innovation by staying current with emerging technologies and industry best practicesWhat You Need to be Successful – Member of Technical Staff – System Software EngineeringMinimum Requirements for the Member of Technical Staff – System Software Engineering:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Design, or related STEM disciplineAt least 2 years of experience in frontend developmentProficiency in TypeScript and modern web frontend frameworks and libraries such as React, Angular, or VueDemonstrated ability in user research, usability testing, rapid prototyping, and accessibilityProven ability to present complex concepts to diverse audiences, from engineers to executivesThis position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.In addition to the above, the minimum Requirements for the Senior Member of Technical Staff – System Software Engineering include:4+ years of experience frontend developmentProven experience in architecting visualization software solutionsLeading team discussions and code collaboration to promote continuous progressParticipating in client, industry, and end-user discussions to help provide technical viewpoint on the applicationExperience leading an Agile development team using Atlassian tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket, SourceTree, etc.)How You Can Stand OutIt would be impressive if you have one or more of these:Master's or Ph.D. in HCI, Computer Science, Design, or Human FactorsExperience with rapid prototyping tools and methodologiesProficiency with Blender, Maya, 3DS Max, or equivalent modeling toolsExcellent interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of customers and staffExperience building and maintaining large-scale design systemsPrevious experience working with aerospace or defense industry clientsCurrent DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearanceWe offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below.
