AP/AR Specialist

Title of Job: AP/AR Specialist Department: G&A - Accounting / MSR-FSR HQ, Chandler, AZ Reports to: Controller Position Description An AP/AR Specialist manages the full‑cycle accounts payable (vendor payments) and accounts receivable (customer invoicing/collections) processes. Key duties include processing invoices, matching purchase orders, applying payments, reconciling sub‑ledgers, resolving discrepancies, and assisting month‑end closing to ensure accurate cash flow tracking. Primary Objectives Accounts Payable (AP): Review vendor invoices for accuracy; obtain approvals; code invoices to the general ledger; verify invoices match purchase orders and receiving documents; maintain vendor files. Accounts Receivable (AR): Generate customer invoices; process daily payments (cash, checks, ACH); apply payments to accounts; manage customer records; enter data and manage billing and payment cycle via customer portals. Collections: Monitor aging reports for overdue accounts; contact clients for collections; resolve payment disputes. Reconciliation & Reporting: Reconcile vendor statements; assist month‑end closing; prepare aging reports for management. Compliance & Communication: Maintain compliance with company policies; support auditing processes; interact with vendors/customers to resolve billing discrepancies. Job Requirements Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Proficient with QuickBooks. Thoroughness, accuracy, and attention to detail. Organized, dependable, reliable; able to work independently and cross‑functionally. Excellent communication skills; articulate clearly in written and spoken form. Strong organizational skills; manage projects and activities structurally and evaluate results; overcome obstacles to achieve outcomes. Education and Experience 2–5 years of experience in AP, AR, or general bookkeeping. Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is a plus.
