Early Head Start Teacher
SPIN Childcare & Education Center, a program of Developmental Opportunities, Inc. (Starpoint), is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and qualified Early Head Start Teacher to provide exceptional care and early learning experiences for infants and toddlers.
Our Early Head Start program focuses on nurturing the whole child through responsive relationships, developmentally appropriate practices, and meaningful partnerships with families.
Position Summary
The Early Head Start Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment that promotes each child's cognitive, social-emotional, language, and physical development. The teacher works collaboratively with families and staff to ensure high-quality early childhood services while maintaining compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and Colorado Child Care Licensing requirements. Early Head Start teachers must hold at least a CDA (or equivalent) with infant/toddler specialization or equivalent coursework focused on infant and toddler development.
Essential Responsibilities
- Create a warm, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum for infants and toddlers.
- Observe, assess, and document children's development and progress.
- Build positive, respectful relationships with children and families.
- Conduct family conferences and participate in home visits as required.
- Support children's social-emotional growth using positive guidance techniques.
- Maintain accurate child records and documentation.
- Ensure classroom health, safety, sanitation, and licensing compliance.
- Collaborate with Early Head Start, disability, health, and family support staff.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and staff meetings.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential with Infant/Toddler endorsement or comparable credential; or
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field with coursework emphasizing infant and toddler development; or
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field with infant/toddler coursework; or
- Colorado PDIS Teacher Qualified and willing to commit to obtaining an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development Associate (CDA) credential with Infant/Toddler endorsement
Additional qualifications include:
- Experience working with infants and toddlers preferred.
- Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain.
- Ability to pass required background checks and meet Colorado licensing requirements.
