(RN) Charge Nurse - Acute Dialysis

Payroll Title CLIN NURSE 2 Position Details Department: Acute Dialysis Worksite: Hillcrest Appointment Type: Career Appointment Percent: 100% Union: NX Contract Total Openings: 1 Work Schedule: Days, 12‑hour shifts, Sunday‑Saturday Filing Deadline: Tue 6/16/2026 Pay: $66.25 - $92.86 per hour (Hourly Equivalent); Annual Full Pay Range: $138,330 - $193,892 Position Overview The Acute Dialysis Charge Nurse oversees care of multiple dialysis patients across multiple locations, ensuring prescription adherence, medication administration, required assessments, collaboration with the interdisciplinary dialysis team, infection control, and regulatory compliance. The primary location will be Hillcrest but will require travel to La Jolla campus and the San Diego County Jail as needed. Responsibilities Oversee care of multiple dialysis patients and ensure correct prescriptions are followed. Administer medications and perform required pre‑ and post‑dialysis nursing assessments. Collaborate with all members of the interdisciplinary dialysis team. Provide dialytic therapies to a wide variety of patient populations at Hillcrest, Thornton, Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center, Jacobs, and the San Diego County Jail unit. Monitor compliance for infection control and execute all regulatory interventions as outlined in conditions for coverage. Practice autonomous nursing care consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Minimum Qualifications Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of California. BART or BLS/CPR certification at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six months. Minimum three years of inpatient acute dialysis RN experience. Experience must include two years of current peritoneal, continuous renal replacement therapy, and apheresis RN experience. Minimum two years of charge nurse experience in an acute care hospital setting. Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities. Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, empathy and kindness to all staff and patients. Demonstrated critical thinking and clinical skills to identify and implement nursing interventions and evaluate results. Excellent communication and influence skills with all levels of staff, physicians, patients and external constituents. Preferred Qualifications BSN ACLS and/or ART certification Critical care experience Special Conditions Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on‑call and locations based on the 24‑hour Medical Center's business needs.
