Life Insurance Specialist - Detroit, MI

Position Overview Field Life Agent – Full time (Exempt/Non‑Exempt: Hourly). The role focuses on outside sales activities away from the assigned AAA branch, driving new business with competitive Life, Health, and Annuity products while helping to retain AAA’s 14+ million members. Key Responsibilities Solicit and sell Life & Health insurance and Annuity products under minimal supervision primarily within the assigned AAA branch location. Maintain thorough knowledge of product features and apply marketing and sales techniques to achieve established sales goals. Develop leads and prospects for new accounts via outbound/inbound calls, mailings, referrals, networking, website activities, seminars, and other marketing efforts. Prepare proposals, close sales of Life, Health, Annuity, Membership, and Financial Services products. Complete appropriate applications, forms and follow internal processing procedures to ensure transactions comply with company policies. Collaborate with Branch personnel to reach business goals, maximize leads, sales opportunities, and cross‑sell products. Assist Underwriting and Brokerage Departments in meeting required documentation and underwriting criteria. Respond to customer inquiries and problems, ensuring sound sales practices. Prepare reports documenting prospecting and sales activities; maintain specified production and persistency standards. Required Qualifications Valid State Life Sales license. Ability to take and pass LUTC or CLU coursework. Maintain all required Life and Health licenses for selling products. Valid State driver’s license. High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years’ experience successfully soliciting and selling life insurance products. Experience selling intangible products. Desired Attributes Strong working knowledge of Life Insurance and Annuity products and services. Excellent listening and analytical skills to recommend solutions that meet customers’ needs. Effective communication of complex information with prospective clients. Proficiency in preparing proposals and closing interviews. Accurate mathematical calculations for premiums and product values. Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships. Proactive prospecting and development of new sales opportunities to meet production requirements. Collaborative approach with branch team to attain business goals. Strong organization, planning, time‑management, and administrative skills. Professional representation of Auto Club Life. Vehicle operation for travel to meetings or community events. Proficient writing skills for routine correspondence. Independent work with minimal supervision. PC skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and email. Benefits & Compensation Unlimited Income Potential – Average earnings $75,000 - $100,000 (base plus commissions).
