Registered Nurse - Cardiac Stepdown

Schedule / Job Type


Contract | Night Shift | 3×12 or 4×12 Hours (19:00-07:30) | Every other weekend coverage required (subject to change based on unit need)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to inpatient adults with actual or potential life-threatening multisystem or cardiac conditions, including sepsis, MI, unstable angina, and coronary artery disease
• Administer and monitor vasoactive infusions, IV antiarrhythmic therapy, thrombolytic therapy, and anticoagulation
• Perform and interpret cardiac telemetry monitoring and EKGs
• Assist with or support defibrillation/cardioversion, thoracentesis, and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring
• Float to like units or other campuses as needed based on census demands; floating will only occur to units for which competencies have been demonstrated and documented
• Complete required pre-assignment modules and testing within 48 hours of receiving login credentials

Required Qualifications

• Active South Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) license
• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience with Epic EMR
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a cardiac stepdown or similar unit (first-time travelers may be considered based on overall experience)
• Must reside more than 100 miles from all system facilities to be fully eligible; candidates residing 50-99.9 miles from the contracted campus (night shift, this specialty) may be considered at a reduced rate; candidates under 50 miles are ineligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• 2 or more years of experience in cardiac stepdown or a related specialty
• Prior travel nursing experience
• Familiarity with vasoactive drug administration and antiarrhythmic drug therapy in a stepdown or progressive care environment
