Real Estate Controller

Position Summary

\n

Seeking a seasoned, hands-on Real Estate Controller to oversee the accounting and financial reporting for a substantial portfolio of industrial, residential, retail, and mixed-use real estate assets . This individual will be dedicated to the real estate/investment side of the organization and work closely with executive leadership.

\n

This will initially be an individual contributor role with no direct reports , with significant long-term growth potential, including a potential path to CFO .

Key Responsibilities

  • Own property and investment accounting across a multi-entity real estate portfolio.
    • \n
  • Manage month-end close and property-level financial reporting.
    • \n
  • Oversee CAM reconciliations, tenant recoveries, lease/rent accounting, and general ledger activity .
    • \n
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and variance analysis.
    • \n
  • Support real estate tax matters and coordinate with external advisors.
    • \n
  • Ensure accurate accounting for acquisitions, capital expenditures, and property investments.
    • \n
  • Improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting.
    • \n
  • Partner directly with ownership and executive leadership.
    • \n

Qualifications

    \n
  • CPA preferred
    • \n
  • Strong commercial real estate/property accounting experience
    • \n
  • Prior Controller-level experience (1-2 years minimum)
    • \n
  • Strong knowledge of CAM reconciliations, lease accounting, tenant recoveries, and multi-entity accounting
    • \n
  • Tax knowledge strongly preferred
    • \n
  • Public accounting foundation a plus
    • \n
  • Experience with AMSI/eFinancials or similar property accounting software preferred
    • \n
