Development and Communications Manager

Position Summary The Development and Communications Manager will coordinate communications and fundraising efforts to support our work in programs, advocacy, and research aimed at building a stronger food assistance system in the Greater Indianapolis area. This position will help Indy Hunger Network grow and diversify its fundraising through individual donors, corporate giving, and foundation grants. The Development and Communications Manager will be responsible for implementation of fundraising strategies in collaboration with the Executive Director and Program Directors. This role will also be responsible for managing day-to-day communications about Indy Hunger Network with a variety of audiences through social media and our electronic newsletter. The Development and Communications Manager reports to the Executive Director. Key Responsibilities Fundraising Using our fundraising strategy document, work with the Executive Director and Program Directors to create a timeline for strategy implementation Manage the donor database, and review the database regularly for accuracy and prospect research Coordinate and manage individual donor asks through mail, e-mail, and social media Steward donors through letters, e-mails, phone calls, and visits to maintain connection and support to Indy Hunger Network Work with Office Administrator to ensure timely gift acknowledgements Maintain grants calendar and tracking sheet to monitor grant opportunities and deadlines Coordinate proposal writing and submission with assistance from appropriate program staff Develop plans for an annual event to engage new donors and thank existing donors Communications Manage social media posts for the organization through Facebook, Instagram, and Linked In. Create a system to gather social media content from staff and plan ahead for content to be shared. Work with Office Administrator to track social media metrics and adjust content based accordingly. Coordinate quarterly newsletter creation, including gathering information and photos from staff, writing articles, and sending the newsletter through our communications system. Create an annual report to highlight the organization’s accomplishments. Develop new communications materials to tell our story to a variety of audiences, including donors, policy makers, and the general public. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field Experience: 3+ year of experience in communications and non-profit fundraising. Strong writing skills. Interpersonal Skills: Proven ability to communicate clearly and professionally with diverse community partners and donors. Comfort with public speaking. Organizational Skills: Self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines. Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, Google G-Suite, and virtual meeting platforms (Zoom). Proficiency with Facebook, Instagram, and Linked In. Experience with Bloomerang preferred. Logistics: Reliable transportation for travel throughout Central Indiana. Physical Demands Ability to walk up and down steps.
