The Surgical Scheduling Coordinator at Kovach Eye Institute plays a key role in optimizing the efficiency and coordination of surgical procedures at our surgery center, Ophthalmology Surgery Center of Illinois (OSCI). Proven proficiency in patient-centered communication, timely responsiveness, and resourceful problem-solving is critical. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and leadership skills to manage surgical schedules and ensure smooth operations and timely patient care. This position works closely with the billing department and the surgery scheduler at OSCI. The Surgical Scheduling Coordinator is a patient advocate with a commitment to Kovach Eye Institute’s values.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for efficiently coordinating surgical schedules, considering surgeon availability, and patient needs.
• Optimize surgery schedules for Kovach Eye Institute, coordinating closely with OSCI to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Work productively within a high-performing scheduling team, providing support to ensure a positive patient experience and satisfaction.
• Excellent communication is needed for this role, facilitating clear communication between surgical staff, physicians, and support teams to ensure all parties are well-informed about scheduling details.
• Follow HIPAA guidelines, processing insurance authorizations and insurance billing, working alongside the billing department.
• Schedule surgical procedures, including pre-operative and post-operative follow ups.
• Maintain accurate and up to date records of surgical schedules, ensuring compliance with surgery center policies and regulatory requirements.
• Manage changes or cancellations in the surgical schedule.
• Collaborate with billing department to ensure accurate documentation for billing surgical procedures.
• Maintain up to date records of surgical schedules ensuring compliance with surgery center policies.
