Utility Maintenance Mechanic

Job SummaryIncumbents in this position are responsible for mechanical operations and repairs of treatment facilities, ground water wells, water towers and CFPUA buildings. This position is assigned to pay grade G13.Essential Job FunctionsMaintains various pumps, motors, and electrical systems and performs preventive maintenance on equipment.Conducts safety inspections, maintains lubricant and fluid levels, and cleans work areas.Performs maintenance at CFPUA building and administrative facilities.Identifies and corrects work hazards while ensuring compliance with established safety policies.Repairs plumbing.Troubleshoots equipment and makes necessary repairs.Repairs and replaces piping, valves, and other vital pieces of equipment on the plant.Maintains assigned vehicles and equipment, assists with supply inventory, and operates job related tools.Preventative maintenance on plant equipment such as filters, clarifiers, pumps, bar screen, digester heaters.Performs annual inspections and preventative maintenance on all equipment on the plant.Repairs and maintains plant chemical system.Remains on call/standby for emergencies.Checks Maximo (work order program) and prioritizes work orders.Performs other related job duties as assigned.In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.Education, Experience, and Other RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED.Six (6) months of mechanical work experience in or any related work field.Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid State of North Carolina driver's license required.This position will be placed on an On-Call rotation that requires a response within 30 minutes of notification.Other RequirementsOther Essential Job SpecificationsYES - NOUse interpersonal skills such as seeing, hearing, and speaking to develop positive interactions with customers. - XComprehends and uses technical or professional language, either written or spoken, to communicate complex ideas. - XPerforms numerical operations using basic counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying, or dividing. - XPerforms complex quantitative calculations or reasoning using algebra, geometry, statistics, or abstract symbols. - XRequires travel between CFPUA sites. - XUse or repair small/light equipment (power tools). - XUse or repair medium equipment and machinery (vehicles, commercial mowers). - XUse or repair heavy or complex machinery (HVAC systems, construction equipment, water plants). - XPhysical Requirements None: 0 hours or 0% of scheduled shiftSome: Up to 2 hours or 20% of scheduled shiftFrequent: 2 to 5 hours or 20% to 60% of scheduled shiftVery Frequent: More than 5 hours or 60% to 100% of scheduled shiftNONE - SOME - FREQUENT - VERY FREQUENTMinimal physical exertion.
