Registered Respiratory Therapist

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to support a Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) Laboratory . This position focuses on diagnostic pulmonary testing, including spirometry, lung volume measurements, and diffusing capacity testing. PFT experience/certification is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Perform routine and advanced respiratory therapy diagnostic procedures.
\n
• Conduct Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs) , including:
\n
• Spirometry
\n
• Lung volume testing
\n
• Diffusing capacity testing
\n
• Bronchial provocation testing
\n
• Exhaled breath testing
\n
• Stress testing
\n
• Perform arterial punctures and obtain arterial blood gas (ABG) samples when required.
\n
• Interpret ABG results and other pulmonary diagnostic data.
\n
• Assess the appropriateness and effectiveness of respiratory therapy procedures.
\n
• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain respiratory therapy and pulmonary function equipment.
\n
• Demonstrate knowledge of respiratory equipment, its clinical applications, limitations, and troubleshooting procedures.
\n
• Document procedures, patient information, test results, and care accurately.
\n
• Communicate technical information clearly to physicians and other healthcare professionals.
\n
• Participate in department education, safety programs, and quality initiatives.
\n
• Provide instruction and technical guidance to staff when requested.
\n
• Maintain compliance with departmental policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
\n
• Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, sound judgment, and strong customer-service skills.

Qualifications

\n

\n
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through NBRC – Required
\n
• Current New York State Respiratory Therapist license – Required
\n
• BLS/BCLS certification – Required
\n
• Minimum 1 year of hospital-based respiratory therapy experience required.
\n
• Strong knowledge of respiratory therapy equipment and clinical applications.
\n
• Knowledge of cardiopulmonary pathophysiology and respiratory treatment modalities.
\n
• Ability to interpret abnormal laboratory values and recommend appropriate action.
\n
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
\n
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
\n

Important Details:

• 8-week contract position (extensions possible)
\n
• Shift is 7.5 hrs/day Mon - Fri (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM), 37.5 hrs/week
\n
• Location is Flushing, NY 11355
\n
• Pay Range for Locals: $60 - $64 Hourly
\n
• Pay Range for Travelers: $2,750 - $2,800 Weekly
