RN Charge/Supervisor

Promotes and restores patients' health by developing day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patient care area. Directs and develops staff while collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional teams. Provides physical and psychological support for patients, friends, and families. Accomplishes nursing human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees. Communicates job expectations and plans, monitors, and appraises job contributions. Recommends compensation actions while adhering to policies and procedures. Meets nursing operational standards by contributing information to strategic plans and reviews. Implements production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards. Resolves problems and identifies system improvements. Meets nursing financial standards by providing annual budget information. Monitors expenditures and identifies variances while implementing corrective actions. Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients. Maintains nursing guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures. Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting philosophies and standards of care. Enforces adherence to state board of nursing and nurse practice act requirements and to other governing regulations. Measures health outcomes against standards and makes or recommends adjustments. Completes patient care requirements by scheduling and assigning nursing staff while following up on work results. Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families. Promotes patient independence by establishing care goals and teaching self-care skills. Provides information to patients and the healthcare team by answering questions and requests. Resolves patient needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by designing and implementing procedures, rules, and regulations. Calls for assistance from other healthcare professionals as needed. Protects patients and employees by developing and interpreting infection-control policies and protocols. Enforces medication administration, storage procedures, and regulations for controlled substances. Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by monitoring confidential information processing. Maintains documentation of patient care services by auditing records. Ensures operation of medical and administrative equipment by verifying emergency equipment availability. Completes preventive maintenance requirements and troubleshoots malfunctions. Calls for repairs and maintains equipment inventories. Evaluates new equipment and techniques as needed. Maintains nursing supplies inventory by studying usage reports and identifying trends. Anticipates needed supplies and approves requisitions and cost allocations. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications. Establishes personal networks and participates in professional societies. Maintains a cooperative relationship among healthcare teams by communicating information effectively. Responds to requests and builds rapport while participating in team problem-solving methods. Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for new requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
