The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a small, high-caliber team of senior and principal engineers, setting the technical strategy and architectural direction for AI/ML platforms, and maintaining a hands-on approach to system design, architecture reviews, and complex problem-solving. This role also involves close collaboration with product and research teams to deliver impactful solutions, as well as hiring, mentoring, and ensuring the team's high-quality, fast delivery across projects. Candidates for the VP Engineering position should have a proven track record of leading senior and principal engineers in high-autonomy environments, possess strong technical depth in large-scale systems and architecture, and have a background in AI/ML-driven products, particularly in scientific or complex domains. The role requires the ability to operate both strategically and hands-on, and experience working with researchers or domain experts is a plus. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in fast-moving, ambiguous, and high-impact environments, and be prepared to tackle genuinely challenging problems at the intersection of AI and science.
