About the Role:

The Senior Accountant in the Transportation and Warehousing industry plays a critical role in managing and overseeing the financial operations to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This position is responsible for preparing detailed financial reports, analyzing financial data, and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities to drive informed business decisions. The Senior Accountant will collaborate closely with various departments to monitor financial performance and implement internal controls that safeguard company assets. Additionally, this role involves ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and accounting standards specific to the transportation and warehousing sector. Ultimately, the Senior Accountant contributes to the financial health and strategic growth of the organization by providing expert financial insights and maintaining robust accounting practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience, preferably within the transportation or logistics industry.
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience preparing financial statements and managing audits.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent certification.
• Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
• Familiarity with transportation and warehousing industry-specific financial regulations and compliance requirements.
• Advanced skills in data analysis and financial modeling.
• Strong project management experience and ability to lead process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP and industry regulations.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate transaction recording.
• Conduct detailed variance analysis and financial forecasting to support operational planning and budgeting.
• Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting procedures to enhance financial accuracy and efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze cost structures and identify opportunities for financial optimization.
• Oversee fixed asset accounting, including tracking, depreciation, and reconciliation.
• Support tax preparation and filing activities, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
