Clinician QMHP-T - NEW Crisis Receiving Center

Horizon Behavioral Health’s NEW Crisis Receiving Center in Lynchburg, VA, is looking for a full‑time Qualified Mental Health Professional Trainee (QMHP‑T) to join our team. The role offers 37.5 hours per week with full benefits and participation in the Virginia Retirement System (VRS). Salary range: $35,834.00 – $45,689.00 annually. Position Summary The QMHP‑T Clinician provides essential services for the adult 23‑hour observation, residential stabilization unit, and detox program. Direct services are given in individual and group formats, including crisis intervention, care coordination, skills restoration and education, symptom and behavior management. The clinician works collaboratively with the treatment team to develop and implement treatment and discharge plans, helping clients achieve stability and transition back into the community while avoiding inpatient hospitalization. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university. Prefer a degree in an applicable human services field (social work, counseling, behavioral science, psychology, or other DMAS‑approved fields). No professional experience required. Credential: Qualified Mental Health Professional Trainee (QMHP‑T). Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of community mental health and public health to provide advocacy and access to community resources. Understanding of mental health, intellectual disabilities, and substance abuse principles and trends. Ability to assess client needs, meet quality standards, and evaluate client satisfaction. Adherence to professional ethical standards. Effective communication to facilitate treatment and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams. Analytical skills to assess situations and develop appropriate responses. Collaborative teamwork and professional relationships. Adaptability to changing work environments in a positive manner. Ability to participate in and pass behavioral intervention training (verbal de‑escalation and physical skills). Willingness to work modified schedules, including weekends and holidays. Valid driver’s license required; may need to travel to other Horizon locations. Attendance at trainings and meetings may involve travel.
