The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology unit consists of 11 beds and delivers specialized care to infants, children, adolescents, and young adults facing various hematological and oncological challenges. Our multidisciplinary team is dedicated to providing comprehensive, family-centered care throughout the treatment process, which includes chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood transfusions, bone marrow transplants, symptom management, and end-of-life support. As a center engaged in clinical research, we offer patients access to groundbreaking clinical trials while ensuring compassionate, evidence-based care that aims for optimal outcomes.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), your daily responsibilities may include:

• Performing thorough patient assessments and identifying subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene promptly and advocate for your patients.
• Administering safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands-on care grounded in sound clinical judgment.
• Collaborating with physicians and advanced providers, offering insights that facilitate timely and well-coordinated care decisions.
• Delivering clear and compassionate education to patients and families, ensuring they feel informed, supported, and ready for the next steps in care.
• Maintaining accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record to ensure continuity and patient safety.
• Participating in interdisciplinary rounds, contributing to effective communication and smooth transitions of care.
• Engaging actively in a collaborative team environment where shared accountability and teamwork directly influence outcomes.

Qualifications for this RN role include:

You must possess an active Registered Nurse license in good standing from New Jersey and a current BLS certification from the American Heart Association. Certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and APHON Chemotherapy are required. A minimum of one year of pediatric experience is necessary, with prior pediatric oncology experience preferred. An Associate’s degree in Nursing is required, while a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is strongly preferred. Previous patient care experience and familiarity with electronic medical record systems (EMR), such as EPIC, are also advantageous. This position involves night shifts, requiring 36 hours per week from 7 PM to 7:30 AM.
