Join a supportive team as an Assistant Resident Care Aide, providing compassionate care and assistance to residents in a county-operated home located in the Midwest region of the United States. This part-time, as-needed position offers flexible scheduling across all three shifts, typically averaging 8-16 hours biweekly with opportunities for additional hours to cover absences.

Role Overview:

You will perform a variety of nursing, environmental, and nutritional tasks aimed at promoting and maintaining the health and well-being of residents. Responsibilities include administering and documenting medication reminders and treatments as prescribed, assisting residents with special needs, measuring and recording vital signs, and supporting the care team with medication orders. You will also prepare monthly summaries, conduct periodic resident checks, transport residents to medical appointments, and help maintain a clean living environment. Collaboration with staff to provide balanced meals and snacks is essential.

Additional Duties:

Occasionally, you may assist with cooking and other assigned tasks. Maintaining accurate daily records of residents' activities and conditions is required.

Education & Qualifications:

Preferred candidates hold certification as a Qualified Medical Assistant (QMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or equivalent experience. You should be capable of maintaining routine health records, administering medications per physician instructions, and performing simple medical procedures such as taking blood pressure and temperature. Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to interpret menus and food preparation guidelines, are important.

Responsibilities:

Accuracy in record-keeping and strict adherence to medication dosages and physician directions are critical, as errors could have serious consequences. Your work will be regularly reviewed by supervisors and healthcare professionals.

Work Environment:

This role is based in a home-like nursing setting with direct physical contact with residents and occasional exposure to environmental tasks. The position requires a warm, patient approach and the ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, colleagues, residents, physicians, and pharmacists to meet residents' needs effectively.
