Mammography Technologist

Job Summary
The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality screening and diagnostic 2D and 3D (tomosynthesis) mammography procedures. Operating in a premier outpatient radiology facility, the technologist works closely with board-certified radiologists to deliver precise diagnostic imaging while ensuring a compassionate, comfortable experience for patients.

Key Responsibilities
• Clinical & Patient Care:
Perform 2D/3D digital mammography screening and diagnostic examinations per facility protocols.
Position patients accurately while minimizing discomfort and explaining procedures to alleviate anxiety.
Assist attending radiologists during interventional procedures (e.g., stereotactic biopsies, needle localizations).
• Quality Control & Compliance:
Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly quality control (QC) checks on mammography equipment in accordance with MQSA and ACR standards.
Follow strict radiation safety and infection control guidelines to maintain patient and staff safety.
• Documentation & Image Handling:
Verify patient history and accurately document clinical details in the Radiology Information System (RIS) / Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Review image quality before sending studies to PACS for radiologist interpretation.
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
Coordinate with radiologists, clinical staff, and administrative teams to maintain smooth patient workflow and facilitate timely follow-up care.

Qualifications & Requirements
• Licensure: Valid New York State Radiologic Technologist License (NYSDOH).
• Certifications:
ARRT Primary Certification in Radiography: R.T.(R)
ARRT Post-Primary Certification in Mammography: R.T.(R)(M)
Active BLS / CPR certification.
• Experience: 1-2+ years of dedicated mammography experience (including 3D tomosynthesis) preferred.
• Skills: Proficiency in RIS/PACS software, strong attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, and a patient-centered approach.
