Accounts Payable Specialist

The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for performing the Company's accounts payable function. This position processes the payment of invoices to ensure that payment is accurate, timely and properly accounted for. This position ensures company policies and procedures are being adhered to as they pertain to accounts payable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform daily, monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounts payable processes, journal entries and reconciliations to ensure deadlines are met.
• Communicate with team members at all levels of the organization to facilitate accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices. Ensure all requests for payment have the required documentation and approvals.
• Perform sales and use tax reporting.
• Process new supplier requests and supplier updates. Communicate with new suppliers to set up account information, respond to payment questions, and update supplier details as needed.
• Ensure expenses and business assets are recorded in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Provide accounts payable support for all departments and branches within the company, as well as respond to requests from Internal and External Auditors.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

• Attentive to detail; must be able to accurately and reliably perform daily and monthly Accounting tasks.
• Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, etc.).
• Quick learner; able to assimilate new ideas and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization by telephone, in person and by email.

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor or Associate's degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent experience.
• Workday experience is a plus.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to constantly remain in a stationary position.
• The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
• Occasionally, may require light lifting up to 25 pounds.

• Office environment.
