A confidential, full-service law firm is seeking an experienced associate attorney to join its probate and trust litigation practice in Houston. This role is focused on fiduciary litigation, complex probate disputes, and trust and estate controversies, often involving sophisticated issues and high net-worth estates and trusts. The position is best suited for an attorney who can run matters with increasing autonomy, take ownership of strategy, and maintain direct client relationships. WHY THIS OPPORTUNITY STANDS OUT Partnership-track associate role within a busy probate and trust litigation practice. Substantive fiduciary and probate dispute work, including multi-issue matters. Meaningful responsibility with client-facing counseling and expectation management. Billable hours target of 1,900. THE ROLE Manage probate, trust, and fiduciary litigation matters through resolution. Develop and execute case strategy, including early case assessment and settlement positioning. Draft pleadings, motions, and persuasive briefs; support hearing and trial preparation as needed. Handle written discovery and document strategy. Take and defend depositions. Communicate with clients regarding strategy, risk, and settlement options. Help build the practice through client relationship development and referral cultivation. LOCATION, SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION Location: Houston, Texas Schedule: In office 4 days per week Compensation: Base salary from $140,000 REQUIREMENTS Active Texas law license in good standing. Minimum 5 years of probate litigation experience. Juris Doctor from an accredited law school. Strong command of the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure and Texas Rules of Evidence. Demonstrated ability to draft technically competent and persuasive litigation documents. Experience taking and defending depositions. Ability to develop and execute sophisticated litigation strategies and resolve multi-issue disputes. Ability to interface with clients, manage expectations, and independently manage a docket. PREFERRED BACKGROUND Strong academic credentials, writing skills, and references. Interest in business development and developing referral relationships. History of high achievement in a fast-paced, team-oriented litigation environment.
