A confidential Texas-based law firm is seeking a senior bankruptcy and creditors’ rights attorney to focus on sophisticated creditor-side matters, with an emphasis on bankruptcy litigation and related litigation trust and special counsel engagements. This is a partner-track opportunity for an attorney who is well-connected in the bankruptcy community and is motivated to build and grow a durable practice.

WHY THIS OPPORTUNITY STANDS OUT

Partner-track role for an attorney who wants to lead and expand a practice. Mix of Chapter 11, Chapter 7, contested matters, adversary proceedings, and litigation trust-related work. Hybrid schedule with in-office expectation three days per week. Billable target of 1,600 hours.

THE ROLE

Represent secured and unsecured creditors in Chapter 11 reorganizations and Chapter 7 liquidations. Manage contested bankruptcy litigation, including adversary proceedings and contested matters. Handle motion practice and courtroom advocacy, including stay relief, claims objections, and related disputes. Advise creditor clients on strategy, risk, and resolution options throughout the case lifecycle. Support litigation trust-related matters, including litigation strategy and related claim administration support where applicable. Serve in special counsel-style capacities for creditor constituencies and coordinate with referring counsel as needed. Develop business through relationship management and practice development efforts.

LOCATION, SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION

Location: Houston, Texas area Schedule: Hybrid, in office 3 days per week

REQUIREMENTS

Active Texas bar admission. 15+ years licensed in Texas with substantial bankruptcy and creditors’ rights experience. Meaningful experience in creditor representation, including bankruptcy litigation. Experience with litigation trust work and special counsel-style engagements. Creditor-side practice focus is required for this role (no debtor work). Demonstrated business development capability, including the ability to originate at least $750,000 annually. Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

PREFERRED BACKGROUND

Established professional network within the Texas bankruptcy community. Relationships with large law firms and other referral sources, including Texas and New York connections.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
