Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13 Weeks | 12-Hour Night Shifts (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 32-bed Neuro ICU setting, with a primary focus on general ICU patients including post-stroke, sepsis, DKA, post-code, and respiratory distress cases
• Perform neurological assessments and manage neuro-specific interventions including external ventricular drains, ventriculostomy devices, and biopsies as needed
• Initiate and titrate sedatives, paralytics, cardiac drips, and vasoactive medications; manage ventilated patients in coordination with respiratory therapy
• Interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKGs; travelers are required to pass telemetry competency testing
• Apply sepsis protocols and provide care for critically ill patients; administer NIHSS and dysphagia screenings
• Float within skillset to affiliated campuses as needed, with a minimum of 2 hours' notice provided for cross-campus float assignments; may be required to precept students and new hires as this is a teaching facility

Required Qualifications

• Current, active compact RN license
• AHA BLS certification required
• AHA ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, including at least 1 full year in an ICU setting
• At least 1 prior travel assignment and Trauma Level II experience required
• Recent Epic EMR experience required
• Strong neurological assessment, critical thinking, and telemetry/12-lead EKG interpretation skills required
• Must not reside within 40 miles of the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)
• tPA administration and post-tPA assessment experience
• Massive transfusion protocol experience (Belmont device)
• Adaptable, resilient, and collaborative with strong interpersonal skills
