Journeyman Millwright

The Journeyman Millwright installs and maintains machinery and equipment using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools according to layout plans, blueprints, or other drawing specifications.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential duties satisfactorily.

1. Reads and interpret blueprints, schematics and detailed repair drawings related to construction equipment and machinery; determining work procedures
2. Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools
3. Assembles and installs equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails, using hand tools and power tools
4. Constructs foundation for machines using hand tools and building materials; such as wood, cement, and steel
5. Aligns machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs
6. Grind and file machinery parts both on-site and in controlled circumstances
7. May repair and lubricate machines and equipment
8. Operate heavy equipment and machinery in the performance of the essential duties
9. Work with and around hazardous materials, as well as at heights and in confined spaces in the performance of these essential duties
10. Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
11. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential for employee job performance
12. Perform other duties as assigned

This position is designated as a safety-sensitive position as it requires the ability to concentrate for long periods of time while: operating, maintaining, and monitoring heavy equipment, machinery, and motor vehicles. This work will often be done with and around hazardous materials at elevated heights and confined spaces. A lapse of attention on the job could result in injury, illness, or death.

Skills & Competencies:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
• 3 years millwright experience or relevant field
• Work within precise standards of accuracy
• Rate information using standards which can be measured or checked
• Should be able to look at flat drawings or pictures and understand how they would look as solid objects
• All employees must provide and maintain the required tool inventory for this position
• Ability to communicate clearly with employees and customers
• Good organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to complete daily tasks with limited supervision and minimal errors requiring re-work
• Ability and willingness to work overtime and non-standard schedule: nights, weekends and holidays as/if required
• A current valid driver's license or government issued ID is required
