Position Type: Early Intervention for Infants and Toddlers (ESIT) Date Posted: 4/17/2026 Location: Pasco Closing Date: 05/01/2026 Department/Program: Special Services / Early Support for Infants and Toddlers (ESIT) Reports To: ESIT Program Coordinator Classification: Certificated Exempt – 108 days per year / 8 hours per day Salary Range: MA+0 $45,747.80 - MA+10 $55,278.83 SUMMARY: The Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP) evaluates and supports children ages 0–3 with communication delays and related developmental needs. This position focuses on enhancing children’s communication skills through family‑centered intervention, caregiver coaching, and collaborative teamwork. The SLP partners with families to build on strengths and embed strategies into everyday routines. Services are delivered in natural environments and emphasize coaching caregivers to support their child’s communication across daily activities. This position is primarily remote and requires a productive home workspace located within Washington State. Travel is required, and all eligible travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with OFM guidelines and program requirements. Essential Functions Build rapport and strong relationships with families and other ESIT team members. Evaluate children ages 0–3 with communication delays and related developmental needs, conduct comprehensive assessments, and gather relevant information to determine eligibility for IDEA Part C early intervention services. Prepare evaluation reports that include assessment findings, communication development, strengths, and areas of concern to support the development of Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs). Collaborate with families and ESIT Providers to develop IFSPs based on identified family priorities and concerns, routine, and the child’s developmental needs. Provide guidance and expertise to ESIT Providers in implementing IFSP outcomes by supporting communication strategies through coaching, consultation, and collaboration. Monitor and adjust support strategies to ensure the implementation of effective, evidence‑based communication supports as outlined in IFSPs. Facilitate joint home visits with ESIT Providers to provide ongoing support, coaching, and guidance in embedding communication strategies into daily routines within natural environments. Participate in team meetings, contributing communication expertise while supporting a reflective, collaborative, and team‑based approach to service delivery. Provide direct early support services to families using a family‑centered coaching model, ensuring individualized and functional communication support. Support team learning by sharing strategies related to communication development, including language development, social communication, and feeding. Monitor and adjust support strategies to meet the child and family’s changing needs. Plan, conduct, and participate in formal and informal meetings, programs, and activities with families, local school district personnel, and community agencies. Other Job Functions Compile and maintain up‑to‑date documentation, including evaluation reports, IFSPs, progress notes, and communication logs related to services provided to children and families. Collaborate with families, local school district personnel, and community agencies to support service coordination, continuity of care, and successful transitions. Provide consultation and guidance to team members and community partners regarding communication development, feeding, social communication, and early intervention best practices. Assist in the development of written materials such as procedures, guidelines, and training resources to support high‑quality early intervention services. Provide support to school districts (e.g., transition planning, communication development, Part C services and regulations) to ensure alignment with established guidelines and practices. Assist other personnel as needed to ensure an efficient and effective team approach to service delivery. Utilize technology effectively, including proficiency in Google Drive, Outlook, Google Docs, Adobe, PowerPoint, and other relevant tools to support communication, documentation, and collaboration. Demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt, including the ability to utilize the ESIT Data Management System (DMS) for documentation, tracking, and reporting. Participate in professional development opportunities and reflective practices to support continuous growth and improvement. Strive to contribute to a positive, collaborative, and healthy team culture. Adhere to all Board policies and procedures, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, and ESIT requirements. Qualifications Master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology. Valid Washington State License as a Speech‑Language Pathologist (or ability to obtain prior to start date). Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC‑SLP) preferred (Clinical Fellows may be considered if applicable and with appropriate supervision). Eligibility for ESIT credentialing and ability to complete required ESIT in‑service training within 6 months of hire. Knowledge of early childhood development (birth–3), including communication development, social‑emotional development, and family‑centered practices. Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with young children and families (experience in early intervention, pediatrics, childcare, or related settings preferred). Reliable personal transportation with appropriate automobile insurance and willingness to travel within the service area. Required Knowledge ESIT policies, procedures, and values, or willingness to complete ESIT training and meet state personnel standards within required timelines. Evidence‑based early intervention practices, including coaching caregivers, family‑centered services, natural learning environments, and inclusive practices.
