The Institutional Giving Manager reports directly to the Chief Philanthropy Officer and works to achieve VFC's fundraising goals by securing financial resources from foundations, corporations and government sources. This position is responsible for developing and stewarding key relationships with institutional funders, working with program staff to articulate VFC programs to donors; researching and writing grants; managing grants reporting and administration; and supervising two full-time staff: the Grant Writer and Grants Coordinator. In addition, this position will assist with other VFC writing as necessary.The Institutional Giving Manager should be prepared to handle matters confidentially and with the strictest security when the need arises, whether the items are labeled confidential or not. This employee must work as a committed member of the Voices for Children team.The successful candidate will be a compelling and engaging writer, strategic thinker, skilled communicator, and self-starter with exceptional organizational skills.Essential DutiesAs the Institutional Giving Manager, you will be responsible for the following:GrantsWrite and submit grant proposals and reports (a team of 3 completes as many as 150 annually) and serve as a liaison between VFC and institutional funders.Present accurate information to potential funders and ensure that proposals match funders' requirements prior to submission; during review process, maintain contact with funders and submit additional information if required.Maintain master files on grants; manage preparation of monthly grants reports for Board of Directors and other reports for President/CEO or Chief Philanthropy Officer as requested.Conduct research to identify new funders that might have an interest in VFC.After grants are awarded, manage and track reporting deadlines and write and submit reports to funders. Work with the Grants Coordinator to ensure VFC is compliant with all government contracts.Supervise ongoing grants schedule for application and reporting deadlines and maintain grants calendars.Write/edit other department materials such as annual fund letters, annual report, or stewardship letters.Work closely with the Chief Philanthropy Officer to track fundraising goals throughout the fiscal year.Represent Voices for Children in the community as requested, including public speaking as funders may request, as well as grants site visits.Provide support for donor recognition events, and other stewardship activities.SupervisionProvides direct supervision and oversight for the Grants Officer and the Grants Coordinator.Conducts written, annual performance goals and evaluations for direct reports.Job QualificationsThe successful applicant to this position will meet the following criteria:A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.Three to Four years of experience in grants fundraising.Strong drive and aptitude for strategic thinking, planning, and executing new strategies and best practices.Visionary thinking, analytical skills, effective communication, and strong leadership qualities, all crucial for driving organizational growth and navigating complex challenges.Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to engage and interact effectively and tactfully with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., institutional funding representatives, Board members, volunteer leaders, donors, and other constituencies).Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively with a broad group of stakeholders.Good negotiation and mediation skills.Flexibility and ability to manage different projects concurrently, often under pressureAdaptable and open to change, pivoting strategies quickly in response to new information or unexpected challengesDetail-oriented with Excellent organizational, time-management skillsDemonstrated ability to set priorities and manage time efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines.Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously and cooperatively with other staff while maintain standards of confidentiality and discretion, andExperience in the use of basic office equipment and productivity software (primarily Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)Experience with Raiser's Edge or comparable CRM programs.Meet all screening requirements as set forth in the California Rules of Court, Rule 5.655.The ideal candidate will meet some if not all of the following criteria:3 - 4 years of experience in grants fundraising.Experience using Raiser's Edge by Blackbaud.Experience using fundraising databases and search engines (e.g., the Foundation Center, Lexis, Google).Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills coupled with experience writing in a professional capacity (e.g., grant-writing, creating marketing content, or other writing for persuasive purposes).Knowledge of the philanthropic landscape in southern California.A proven track records of increasing revenue year over year for a growing program.COMPENSATION, WORK LOCATION & SCHEDULE$90,000 - 105,000 DOEThis is an exempt, remote-based position. Standard work week is 40 hours; however, employees are expected to work any additional time necessary to meet deadlines and complete assignments. Evenings and weekends may be required. Additional hours are not subject to overtime pay. The VFC office shall be open for business during the following hours, except as hereinafter noted: Monday through Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Coverage at the office by the program and office staff shall be according to such schedule as developed by the President/CEO. Daily travel throughout San Diego is required; some travel to Riverside County is required.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands and work environment described are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential function of this job.
