Job Description Job Description Director of Operations JOB DESCRIPTION The Tek84 Director of Operations is key member of our leadership team and a person who possesses a broad foundation in supply chain, vendor management, warehouse, logistics, capital equipment manufacturing, and operational quality & safety. This position is a stabilizing force in the Organization by exemplifying a calm, mindful, and responsive demeanor. This person is driven by delighting internal & external customers and energized when their staff and processes are visibly and continuously improving. Building, growing, and empathetically coaching each member of the Operations Team is essential to creating a function that is efficient and adaptable to all operational situations. Demonstrating exceptional resource efficiency and rapid work throughput with sound judgment and closed loop systems are paramount. This individual shall have a healthy and constructive sense of skepticism to ensure accurate work is always performed. This role oversees the entire Operations Function and is accountable to ensure Tek84 products are produced to the highest quality & safety standards, regulatory compliance, and to the lowest reasonable cost. This position is accountable for the functions of Supply Chain, Purchasing, Planning, Assembly, Warehouse, and Order Fulfillment. This person shall actively collaborate with all cross-functional departments, partnering most closely with Commercial, Engineering, and Service Teams. The Director of Operations shall be fluent in the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) for all products and establish, execute & report on well-crafted ERP, MRP, Lean, and supply chain strategies to continuously improve product quality, decrease product cost, and maintain fulfillment expectations. Impeccable inventory control discipline and visibly maintaining a “5S” manufacturing environment are paramount. And foremost, the Director of Operations shall ensure a safe working environment. COMPANY OVERVIEW The Tek84 Mission is to provide innovative, reliable, and efficient contraband screening solutions to enhance safety in high-security environments. For over three decades, Tek84 has been a manufacturer of state of the art security products that specialize in ultra-low-dosex-rayimaging for contraband screening. The flagship products are Intercept and Defender full body scanners. These “Made in the USA” systems rapidly screen for weapons, drugs, and other prohibited items forbidden in government facilities, law enforcement institutions, and other high-security environments. These products are widely deployed in 48 US States, globally installed in countries such as Australia and Isreal, and can be found in prominent locations like the US White House. TACTICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS · Maintain a clean and efficient operations work environment, e.g., Lean 5S · Develop and own the department budget and objectives that align to the corporate initiatives via cascading SMART staff goals · Manage Operations personnel and capacity · Drive programs which continuously improve Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Materials Requirements Planning (MRP), manufacturing, warehouse, supply chain, and product quality · Remain current with all personal and employee training records and keep current are applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) · Use data and an actionable metrics approach to continuously identify, prioritize, report on, and stimulate initiatives which improve operating profitability · Timely address operational and technical matters, e.g., non-conformances, returned materials, vendor relationships, manufacturing, inventory, quality, etc. · Maintain compliance with “Made in America” and the “Buy America Act (BAA)” · May perform additional duties as assigned or directed by Management QUALITATIVE JOB REQUIREMENTS · Lead and promote an emphasis on safety and quality · Provide leadership, supervision, mentoring, development, and inspiration of staff · Collaborate effectively with internal colleagues and outside partners · Proactively identifies risks and institutes mitigation strategies EXPERIENCE · Bachelor of Science or higher in a technical discipline, preferably in Engineering or Operations Management; MBA highly desirable · 10 or more years experience in operations management · Fluent with compliance to ISO 9001 · Well versed mid-size Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) applications · Understanding of freight forwarders, e.g., USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL and Third-Party Logistics (3PL) Partners · Ability to lead forecasting, planning, order management, and global logistics. · Proficiency with the following software: Microsoft Applications, e.g., Word, Excel, VISO, and Project, SolidWorks, and data analysis, e.g., Minitab · PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or other applicable project management certifications highly desirable · Must be a US Citizen and able to pass federal and state background checks. REQUIRED COMPETENCIES · High level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness with strong work ethic and the ability to work independently with minimal direction · Exceptional proficiency in the areas of verbal, non-verbal, and written communication, internal and external customer service, and analytical analysis · Ability to lead, influence, and effectively work within cross-functional teams · Appreciates that perception is a form of reality · Results oriented, with a positive “can do” attitude and acts with a sense of urgency · Able to implement and assure compliance with operating procedures · Works effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
