About the Position

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Progressive Care/Stepdown unit at a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias; manage cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration)
• Perform and manage complex clinical skills including central line care, PICC line management, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and wound vac management
• Administer blood products, manage IV insulin and heparin protocols, and provide pre/post cardiac cath and cardiac surgery care
• Operate high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), external CPAP/BiPAP, and interpret ABGs
• Fulfill weekend, holiday, and charge RN assignments as needed; float between departments, units, and facilities as required - must hold both Kansas and Missouri licensure, or a compact license, at time of submission

• Active RN license (Kansas and Missouri licensure, or compact license, required at time of submission)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience; first-time travelers accepted
• Proficiency in telemetry, PCU/IMC/Stepdown nursing, and a broad range of acute care clinical skills
• Charting experience with EPIC (EPIC training modules or test-out required prior to start)
• Must live at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure patients
• Familiarity with use of Rapid Response Teams and management of post-MI and post-cardiac angiogram patients
• Prior experience floating across multiple units or facilities in a high-acuity environment

• Work at a 5-time Magnet-recognized, Level 1 Trauma, tertiary care teaching hospital with 456 staffed beds
• Enjoy free on-site parking and guaranteed hours with 3 shifts protected per 13-week contract period
