The unit specializes in intermediate medical patients with various diagnoses. Diagnoses include pulmonary issues, liver failure, oncology, wounds, urology, cardiac, neuro, renal, and diabetic teaching. This is a fast-paced unit essential for patient throughput. The registered nurse will be responsible for 1:5 patient ratios on all shifts. Regular floating may be required between departments and units. The unit also serves as a teaching site for student nurses during clinicals. Candidates should be prepared to work weekends, with a minimum requirement of 8 weekend shifts in a 6-week period. Preferred skills in managing cardiac drips and understanding substance withdrawal. Prior charge experience is preferred but not mandatory. Experience with telemetry and other related skills is required. Candidates should have familiarity with community hospital settings.
