Accountant IIHouston, Texas, United StatesThe Accountant II is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the multi-entity organization. This role plays a key part in day-to-day accounting functions, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial analysis, and monthly close processes. The ideal candidate will have experience in a multi-location or healthcare setting, with strong attention to detail and a working knowledge of GAAP.Primary ResponsibilitiesAssist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes for multiple dental practices/entities consistently meeting established deadlines.Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, amortizations, and intercompany transactions.Perform balance sheet and bank account reconciliations, investigating and resolving reconciling items on a timely basis.Review and analyze monthly P&L results, researching significant fluctuations and ensuring transactions are recorded accurately.Support general ledger maintenance and ensure data accuracy and integrity.Assist in preparing financial statements and internal reports.Reconcile accounts payable and receivable balances with general ledger entries.Collaborate with operational teams to collect data and ensure financial accuracy.Assist in developing and improving accounting processes, internal controls, and efficiencies.Maintain organized and complete documentation supporting all accounting entries and reconciliations.Perform other accounting and financial reporting duties and special projects as assigned.Support external audits by preparing requested schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.Review financial transactions for accuracy, proper account coding, department allocations, and supporting documentation.RequirementsBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.2–5 years of accounting experience; experience in a healthcare or multi-entity environment is preferred.Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or other ERP systems).Strong understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, formulas).Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.Team-oriented with a willingness to learn and grow within the role.Experience working in a multi-entity or high-volume accounting environment preferred.ExpectationsPerform thorough review of all work before submission, with minimal errors.Maintain up-to-date, accurate, and GAAP-compliant financial records across multiple dental practice entities.Ensure all journal entries, reconciliations, and reports are error-free and delivered on schedule.Consistently meet month-end and quarter-end close deadlines.Prepare and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations monthly, ensuring timely resolution of variances or discrepancies.Work with operations, billing, payroll, and accounts payable teams to gather accurate data and support integrated financial reporting.Follow internal controls and accounting policies.Assist in refining and documenting accounting processes for scalability and audit readiness.Stay current with accounting standards, particularly in healthcare-related areas.Demonstrate initiative and readiness for expanded responsibilities over time.BenefitsBCBS High Deductible & PPO Medical insurance OptionsVSP Vision CoverageBCBS PPO Dental InsuranceComplimentary Life Insurance PolicyShort-term & Long-Term DisabilityPet Insurance Coverage401(k) planHSA / FSA Account AccessIdentity Theft ProtectionLegal Services PackageHospital/Accident/Critical Care CoveragePaid Time OffDiverse and Inclusive Work EnvironmentWorking ConditionsMust be able to sit for extended periods of time.Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.Must be able to reach overhead as needed.Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds as needed.Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.Must be able to maintain attention to detail for extended periods.Must be able to operate standard office equipment.Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, if required.About UsSpecialty1 Partners is a practice services organization committed to providing non-clinical, business support services to the nation's leading specialty dental practices.
