• Chest Pain Center


• Stroke Center


• Unit Information:


• Beds: 16 on PHO and 16 on PA


• Average 14-32 patients per day


• Minimum Years of Experience required?


• PHO: 1 year in Pediatric hem/oncology acute care


• PA: 1 year in pediatric acute care


• Will you accept a first-time traveler?Yes, with a strong pediatric background


• Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:


• Leukemia, solid tumors, sickle cell crisis, diabetes, cystic fibrosis, behavioral health overlay, general adolescent medicine


• Patient Ratios:


• RN :


• Peds Hem/Oncology - 1: 3-4


• Peds Adolescent Medicine - 1:4-5


• CNA: 1:6-16


• Required Licensure & Certifications:


• PA: BLS, PALS preferred


• PHO: BLS, PALS preferred, APHON required chemo certification required


• Skills required:


• Central line management, chemo administration, strong pediatric assessment and critical thinking.


• Support within the Department:


• CNA: vital signs, ADL, safety rounding, I&Os


• Receptionist/HUC


• Charge nurse


• Phlebotomy


• IV/VAT Team - for difficult peripheral access


• Resource Nurse: availability varies


• RT, 24/7


• Hospitalist, 24/7


• Intensivist, 24/7


• Bedside telemetry monitoring, no Tele tech is available.

• Will work routinely between PA and PHO and other units in Brenner except Peds ED.
